The University awarded a contract for Continual sterilization preventative maintenance to Getinge USA, Inc., Rochester, NY, for an estimated $63,333.
Getinge is the original manufacturer of the equipment. Since the sterilizing units are the vendor's equipment, they are familiar with the mechanics, engineering, and software of the original product. The vendor is readily able to obtain proprietary parts to support the equipment including software updates.
The bulk sterilizers are custom models specifically designed to accommodate the large capacities of the BRL's laboratory equipment, instruments, utensils, animal cages, and feed/bedding materials. Microprocessor controls sequence the processes and monitor all cycle phases, providing audible and visual notification of any operating parameter deviation during each process. Getinge Water Systems Steam Generators provide an independent source of steam for the facility's applications for the boiler additives and include water pretreatment to create clean steam without additives that could damage plastic equipment. The digital equipment panel is custom mounted and process configured to offer optimal flexibility for all BRL species and cage specifications
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the
compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration.
