The University awarded a contract for Intra-Operative Monitoring (IOM) services .
Provision of supplementary Intra-Operative Monitoring (IOM) services which will provide the standard care for the hospital surgery patients. IOM is used to monitor an anesthetized patient's brain and spinal cord function during a surgery procedure.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The monitoring of an anesthetized patient's brain and spinal cord functions during surgical procedures are critical services that prevent complications from said procedures.
