The University awarded a contract for endoscopic video system.
Olympus Endoscopic Video System is pulmonary equipment that is used for diagnosing and staging lung cancer with endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) and Radial EBUS.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This endoscopic video system will provide a minimally invasive way of diagnosing lung cancer in patients at the University of Illinois hospital. EBUS-TBNA procedure saves time, money, and lowers the risk of complications that come with traditional surgical procedures.
