The University awarded a contract for Panther platform supplies.
The Hologic Panther platform performs tests for Trichomonas, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The Hologic Panther platform performs tests for Trichomonas, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea for University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UIHHSS) patients. The Panther requires no manual pre-amplification, no pre-processing of samples, and no uncapping of specimens. Other platforms do not meet the requirements of the laboratories' Clinical Pathologists.
