The University awarded a contract for referral laboratory testing.
Laboratory send out testing for hospital patients which cannot be performed in our in house laboratory. Prometheus provides specific testing for particular drug neutralizing antibodies as well as for diagnosing IBD and other gastroenterology conditions which is more sensitive than available through other laboratories.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Prometheus provides specific testing for particular drug neutralizing antibodies as well as for diagnosing IBD and other gastroenterology conditions which is more sensitive than available through other laboratories. If it were sent to a different laboratory offering a similar but different test the quality of the results would suffer, and our healthcare providers and physicians would not have the level of information needed for their patients.
