The University awarded a contract for negative pressure wound treatment devices.
Medical dressing with a vacuum attached that the patient wears for seven days and then removes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This is the device selected for the clinical trial based on prior studies in c-section. This is expansion to a multicenter study. The vendor has been identified in the grant proposal and approved by the sponsor (Center for Diseases Control).
