The University awarded a contract for supplies for ABL Blood Gas Analyzers.
Purchase of supplies for the operation of the ABL Blood Gas Analyzers from Radiometer. Blood gas testing is performed on acutely ill University of Illinois Hospital patients to measure the pH of arterial blood and determine the risk of kidney or heart failure, and other conditions.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Blood gas testing is a critical diagnosis tool for patient care providers at the University of Illinois Hospital and Radiometer?s platform provides the most comprehensive results available to them. Without this procurement we would be settling for a lower level of patient care.
