This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the equipment has capabilities that are specifically required for the intended use that are not available from any other firm. This is the only instrument that is capable of accurate tracing of specific brain regions and design-based quantification of desired cellular populations in these regions. This unique feature is essential for accurate characterization of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases in specific brain regions and will also create a three dimensional composition of the counted region. This feature is not available from any other manufacturer. The equipment will be used for studying Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
