The University awarded a contract for Ignition Quality Tester.
Ignition Quality Tester (IQT) Research System to measure cetane numbers. The cetane number is a value determined experimentally that measures the suitability of a potential diesel fuel for use in a diesel engine. It is derived from either a test using a special large diesel engine or from the ignition quality tester (IQT) instrument.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement will enable the University to to fulfill sponsored research activities under grant number E0203, specifically for ?Acquisition of Ultraviolet Laser Diagnostic System and Ignition Quality Tester for Ignition Characterization in Defense Relevant Fuels?. This project is not funded from State appropriations.
