The University awarded a contract for Panda warmer.
A Panda warmer is an infant warmer that is the first place a baby is put on when it is born. The equipment is capable of resuscitating the baby if needed.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The new Panda warmers are critical to patient care as they are one of the first pieces of equipment that are used to treat and or care for newborns. An integrated resuscitation system can used when needed for high-risk newborns. The Panda warm also tracks temperature, weight, SpO2, and pulse rate and displays the trends on a full-color display to assist healthcare professionals? care of newborns.
