The University awarded a contract for transplant and respiratory pharmaceuticals.
Mychophenolic Acid Tablets, Tacrolimus Tablets, Albuterol Inhalers, Hydroxychloroquine Tablets, immunosurpressants for transplant patients, and bronchodilators for respiratory treatments.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These products treat transplant patients and respiratory diseases. For transplant there have been shortages of transplant drugs for about a year now and this will supplement our primary supply chain. The respiratory products are needed due to short supplies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They may or may not be used directly for COVID-19 patients and will be used to supplement our stressed supply chain.
