The University awarded a contract for a Laser Doppler imager to Perimed, Inc., North Royalton, OH for $46,330.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the instrument is the only one that can "scan" or "image" the entire limb of the mouse. This is important because a comparison of the ischemia hind limb and a normal limb of the mouse must be made simultaneously. This is only possible with the Perimed Laser Doppler Imager. Although there are other companies that make laser Doppler imagers, they are not capable of scanning an entire limb and are designed for large animals, mostly humans, not small mice.

In addition, this is the same system which was used by the researchers at their previous institution and in order to continue the research and reproduce the highly sensitive data, the same instrument must be used. The equipment will be used for vasular reseach.
