Pharmaceuticals purchased direct only due to shortages
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This request is for when medications are direct purchase only because of shortages. COVID-19 products are allocated directly to maintain manufacturer inventory and fairness to all hospitals. Pfizer also allows us to place crash cart syringes on backorder so we can receive product as soon as it is released.
