The University awarded a contract for EPIQ Elite ultrasound system.
The EPIQ Elite is a comprehensive premium class system for breast ultrasound imaging and whole breast mapping.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is in the best interest of the University because it helps UI Health to attain better clinical outcome and better patient experience. The auto-annotation of the breast allows the clinician to focus on the study and patient. It is cost effective; the system is integrated into the diagnostic system allowing the patient to stay in one room.
