The University awarded a contract for reagent rental.
Reagent rental from CareDx of Illumina iSeq instrumentation in order to perform Human Leukocyte Antibody (HLA) testing via Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for UI Health transplant patients.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This will allow the Laboratory to move to NGS for HLA genotyping to aid in donor selection. Results are less ambiguous and faster. This will allow the Laboratory to bring in-house, testing that is currently sent out to a reference laboratory at a much greater cost. This move will provide better, faster results, and reduce send-out costs.
