The University awarded a contract for temporary employee services.
Temporary Employee Services (Financial Clearance Specialists)
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) The Patient Access department of the University of Illinois Hospital is responsible for completing work activities necessary to ensure patients are registered and financially cleared for clinical services provided by the hospital and the University of Illinois Physicians Group, collectively, ?UI Health?. The activity directly enables UI Health to provide clinical services which generates revenue that once collected from patients and third parties pays for the activity. If the activity does not occur, the revenue is not generated and thus the activity is directly linked to the generation of revenue. In this case, the expense of the activity is on a self-supporting hospital fund and the revenue for the activity is recorded in the same self-supporting hospital fund. The activity is paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the activity.
