The University awarded a contract for Roche Cobas 6800 platform reagents & supplies.
Reagent rental and all associated supplies needed for the operation of a Roche Cobas 6800 platform. This high throughput instrument will expand the Laboratories' COVID-19 testing capabilities significantly as well as allow for more automated viral load testing to monitor UI Health patient response to antiviral therapy and disease progression.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This will expand COVID-19 testing volumes significantly at UI Health. The platform will have advantages with regular viral load testing after the pandemic.
