The University awarded a contract for a multi-channel electrochemical detection system to ESA, Inc, Chelmsford, Massachusetts for $34,945.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the vendor is the only manufacturer of an electrochemical detection instrument that can simultaneously measure up to four different analytes in extracts of blood serum or tissue after separation by HPLC. This is important because it will allow for the processing of samples four times faster than single channel units. This is necessary for the processing of the large volume of very time consuming sample measurements required for two different NIH sponsored projects and will assure the completion within the time period of the grants. In addition the detection method for measuring various analyses is more sensitive than any other HPLC detector.
