The University awarded a contract for water purification systems maintenance to Mar Cor Purification, Inc., Downers Grove, IL, for an estimated $450,000.
The Renal Dialysis Unit has two reverse osmosis water systems manufactured by Siemens (formerly US Filter) purchased in 2002. Siemens has sold their Hemodialysis Water Purification business to Mar Cor Purification, Incorporated and will have migrated all of Siemen's current contracts and obligations by June 22, 2013. Mar Cor had given notice of intent to continue the current service and contract terms that Siemens had. In order to meet and maintain pure water requirements mandated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and AAMI.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration.
