The University awarded a contract for OSF Staff for University Sickle Cell clinics to OSF Healthcare System, Peoria, IL, for an estimated $30,000.
OSF Healthcare System will provide continual staff support for University Sickle Cell clinic for 3 clinics per month. Includes Staff Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Counselor, Child Life Specialist and a Clerk Receptionist.
The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria has an Illinois Department of Public Health grant to provide services to children with sickle cell disease. This sole source purchase uses the funds received from the sickle cell grant to pay for staff used on behalf of the pediatric Sickle Cell Clinic. The Sickle Cell Clinic is operated by the College of Medicine at Peoria and is located inside the Children's Hospital of Illinois/OSF Saint Francis. The University is paying for a small portion of the staff's total salary when patients are being seen inside the clinic. Since the clinic is housed inside the OSF hospital, only OSF Healthcare credentialed staff can provide the service.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration.
