The University awarded a contract for the FDA-approved contraceptive Paragard to Paragard, Incorporated, Frisco, TX, for an estimated $150,000.
Purchase of FDA-approved contraceptive product: Paragard is a non-hormonal and non-barrier IUD.Paragard is manufactured by TEVA Women's Health, Incorporated but the exclusive distributor is Paragard Direct.
There are various contraceptive products available to accommodate the diverse needs of female patients.The various contraceptive devices must be available to accommodate the diverse requirements of UIHHSS patients. One option alone cannot be used in all women due to physical anatomy as well as tolerability and other factors. Paragard is a non-hormonal form of contraception.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the Sole distributor for FDA-approved Paragard IUD.
