The University awarded a contract for mobile medical unit and support.
Mobile medical unit and support.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This contract will enable the School of Public Healths Community Outreach Intervention Projects to address the opioid overdose epidemic that has been going on for some time. This van offers the ability to increase availability of, and immediate access to, medication assisted recovery services to populations that are actively using opioids and at risk of overdose, and who may have avoided seeking these services at brick-and-mortar drug treatment programs. This novel approach expands these vital services and is fully supported and by the State Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (SUPR).
