Specific formula IV admixtures
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) CAPS is a 503B outsourcing facility that is able to provide compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) that we are not able to prepare in-house in our cleanroom due to complexity (e.g., cardioplegia solution), CSPs that have extended expiration dating to minimize wastage, and CSPs used frequently that would put an undue hardship on our cleanroom staffs workload if they were made in-house.
