The University awarded a contract for ARTEVO 800 OCT digital microscope.
ARTEVO 800 OCT digital microscope
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The design of ZEISS ARTEVO 800 allows for complete heads-up surgery, eliminating the need to look through the oculars of an analog microscope. Surgeons view images on a 3D monitor during procedures, and the heads-up experience can result in reduced neck and backpain. This allows surgeons to treat more patients per day, increasing potential revenue for the Hospital. The more natural upright position also puts less strain on the surgeons, resulting in fewer off days and hours.
