The University awarded a contract for BioTek Cytation5 Monochromator Imaging System to BioTek Instruments, Winooski, VT, for an estimated $99,233.
BioTek's Cytation5 Monochromator Imaging System has several unique patented specifications that are solely available from BioTek. THe Cytation5 system has an advanced microscope system incorporated into the plate reader architecture, plus a unique compartment and atmospheric controller which supports live cell assays. In this manner, fluorescence/absorbance/luminescence & microscopy data can be collected simultaneously for advanced multiplex assays in vitro or with live cells. There are custom attachments for all the slide, plate, and flask sizes that we will need to utilize. In addition, this device has a special insert which permits microliter quantity nucleic acid assays, which means that we will not have to buy another piece of expensive equipment to do that.

Cytation 5 system can be integrated in the future into a fully automated robotic system for high-throughput discovery.Only the BioTek microplate monochromator system has a unique hybrid optical system with state-of-the art customized optics. The hybrid optical monochromator and filter-based fluorescence) design provides the opportunity to elect the most optimal detection system for the required biochemical and cell-based assays.

There is no other product available which combines all of these essential features.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the items are required for research and no other source is able to meet the researcher's documented needs.
