The University awarded a contract for contraceptive product Nexplanon implant to TheraCom Inc., Rockville, MD, for an estimated $500,000.
Purchase from TheraCom Inc. the FDA-approved contraceptive product Nexplanon implant.
There are only two potential vendors that may distribute Nexplanon. The unit price is the same for all customers. A sole source is being requested for both vendors. These vendors have national customers and established institutional Pharmacy protocol and relationships and are not set-up to respond to competitive solicitations.
The significant volume of Nexplanon prescribed orders and consideration of the distribution and delivery process necessitates that both Pharmacies can contact both vendors and maximize the delivery and distribution process
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the Distributor of Nexplanon - manufacturer only has two distributors in the United States.
