The University awarded a contract for Allscripts Inc's Extended Care Information Network to Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc., Chicago, IL, for an estimated $140,000.
One year continual license support and maintenance from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions for their Extended Care Information Network (ECIN) software is needed. The ECIN system connects Hospital discharge staff with providers of skilled nursing facilities, home care agencies, hospice and rehabiltation agencies via the internet using secure, real time communication tools to deliver the patient referral much faster and return a response to enhance patient placement and care.
Only their ECIN software is fully integrated with the Hospital's EMR system, Cerner which is essential for the patient discharge process. Also, only ECIN has connectivity with over 300 Chicagoland acute care facilities. A one year request is needed until the new CMS requirements are incorporated into a competitive solicitation request.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the procurement is software license, upgrade or maintenance.
