The University awarded a contract for dental supplies and equipment.
Dental supplies and equipment for four dental suites, that includes four dental chairs, Pax x-ray machine, sterilization equipment, pump, drills, vacuums, compressors.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This project is for the expansion of the Mile Square Health Center Dental clinic with the addition of four dental chairs to the Back of the Yards (BOTY) clinic. This expansion provides further access to care and decreases the length of time patients are waiting for appointments, thereby improving health outcomes for our patients. This project will be partially funded via the federal HRSA Capital expansion grant that Mile Square Health Center has already received as well has funding from the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation.
