The University awarded a contract for Pediatric Interventional Cardiology services to Advocate Health and Hospital Corporation, Downers Grove, IL, for an estimated $500,000.
Dr. Javois is a full-time Pediatric Physician with Advocate Health and Hospital Corporation and they have agreed in the interest of Pediatric Care and Pediatric Medical Residency Affiliation to provide Dr. Javois services to UI Health at a 50% rate which equates to $ 250,000 per year.
Dr. Javois is currently a non-salaried Clinical Assistant Professor at UI Health and that appointment began on 11/1/2000. From 2007 - 2012 Dr. Javois was a 10% salaried Clincial Assistant Professor in Pediatrics helping teach medical faculty and medical residents to remain compliant with Medical Certified Borad requirement. He is a reknowned Pediatric Cardiology specialist and researcher at the University for the past ten years.
The services requested are required to provide patient care for patients needing pediatric cardiology services and to meet requirements for the residency program and training of our departmental faculty. These services can only be provided by pediatric cardiologists who have fellowship training. The only possible suppliers for these services are hospital systems that are already a participating site in the University of Illinois Pediatric Residency, as reviewed and approved by the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation for Graduate Medical Education. This participating site requirement is based upon the Residency Review Committee (RRC) that all medical faculty must be approved at a residency site. Advocate Health has a viable existing Affiliation Agreement with the University of Illinois as a resident rotation site and has sufficient hospital employed pediatric cardiologists on staff to provide on-site patient care and resident training at UI Health.
The goal to be achieved is for Advocate Health to provide the services of Dr. Javois so that Pediatric faculty and medical residents can continue to receive the teaching and research expertise needed for the advancement of their Medical Board requirements.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the Pediatric Cardiology services from an Affiliated Hospital network.
