The University awarded a contract for Table-top MRI with MRE functionality to Pure Devices GmbH, Wurzburg, Germany, for an estimated $66,330.
Purchase from Pure Devices GmbH, Wurzburg, Germany their robust, low-cost, table-top MRI/MRE system from Pure Devices GmbH will enable the Researcher to pursue his MRE-related research without the burden of high machine usage rates of $100/h that are typical for MRI systems based on superconducting magnets.
The Researcher's main field of expertise, the development of advanced acquisition strategies, can be pursued more thoroughly without the burden of MRI fees during method development, implementation and validation. Ultimately, the access to an MRI machine including Elastography functionality without usage fees will enable the PI to build more competitive budgets for extramural funding opportunities that seek to support the development of new acquisition concepts or the PI's collaborations with colleagues in the Dept. of Pathology and in the Dept.of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the items are required for research and no other source is able to meet the researcher's documented needs.
