The University awarded a contract for ROSA Neurological Surgery Robotic system.
ROSA Neurological Surgery Robotic system and components are used for planning and precise positioning of instrumentation. ROSA core application is functional neurosurgery, primarily with Epilepsy surgery, Parkinsons and Epilepsy, Laser Ablation, Biopsy and Neurostimulation Lead placement.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) University hired a new Functional Neurosurgeon, Dr. Francesco Pucci, to grow the Functional and Epilepsy program and requires a ROSA Robot for surgeries. Several patients are awaiting this procedure.
