The University awarded a contract for medical exams to National Board of Medical Examiners, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for an estimated $44,360.
The purchase is a sole source because it is a procurement related to participation in mandated education, research, public service, or athletic activities of organizations of which the University is a member. The exams are given to medical students in four separate educational sites of the College of Medicine (COM) and are required in order for the COM to maintain its accredication. The COM is required to use a single source and standard for evaluation of performance at the end of clerkships to ensure that each student is treated equitably and held to the same performance standards. The recommended supplier administers, scores, and performs analysis of the tests results.
