To increase the University's ability to provide teaching and research in the area of Hydraulics and Hydrology, the proposed equipment must have teaching/module applications that may be controlled, visualized and analyzed through computer systems.
  • The pump and turbine trainer must include data acquisition, with digital displays mounted on the system, for collection of results by a computer.
  • The advanced hydrology system must use LabVIEW Data Acquisition software to allow for greater flexibility, wherein the University will be able to customize the display of data, modify any controls, and calculate/plot results within the software by developing custom virtual instrument overlays, thus preparing its students for data acquisition and control application that they are more likely to encounter after graduation.
  • The hydrodynamics trainer must possess a self-contained bench for the study of fluid mechanics.
  • The hydrostatics bench must be conducive to long-term, repeated use in a learning environment. The plumbing pipe, plexiglass cylinders and monometers must be mounted to the bench.
