The University awarded a contract for an Agilent Technologies Demonstration model.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which items available on the spot market or at discounted prices were available for a limited time such that sound business judgment mandated a purchase immediately to take advantage of the availability and price.
The emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which the Agilent Fournier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic Imaging system equipment was available at a deeply discounted price for a limited time on a first come basis. Sound business judgment mandated an immediate purchase to take advantage of the availability and price.

The Demonstation model is available in Agilent’s Chicago Office was offered at a 49 % discount. This Spectroscopic Imaging unit was built in June 2012 and will be utilized for start-up research by a new Assistant Professor, Dr. Michael Walsh. The research collaboration will involve ongoing research studies in progress at both the University of Illinois Chicago and Urbana campuses with compatible Agilent equipment. This is the only demo unit available. Other competitors were solicited but did not have a demo unit available nor could the price be matched.
