The University awarded a contract for purchase of X-Ray tube for imaging patient care .
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which public health or safety was threatened.
On July 16, 2012, during a service call, the University of Illinois Hospital Department of Radiology staff authorized the replacement of a tube for an X-Ray machine from the A-Ray machine manufacturer, Philips Medical Systems, now named Philips Healthcare a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation. This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate replacement was needed to continue X-ray images on hospital monitors for medical staff review, diagnosis and patient care.

Because the University did not provide proper or timely notice to the public, the Procurement Policy Board, the Auditor General and the Chief Procurement Officer of the action, this Notice serves to provide transparency to the transaction.

The Chief Procurement Officer has ratified the procurement pursuant to authority in Section 50-60 of the Illinois Procurement Code.
