The University awarded a contract for chiller motor repair.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services.
On May 17, 2013, the Physical Plant Office was notified that the main chiller failed in the Administration Office Building located at 1737 W. Polk Chicago, Illinois.. An emergency service call was placed to Kroeschell Services and the chiller compressor/motors were disassembled. After the motors were inspected and tested by Steiner Electric it was determined that replacement of one motor and repair to the other were necessary. The project is ongoing but a not to exceed cost estimate of $ 100,000 has been determined.
