The University awarded a contract for membership dues to Illinois Hospital Association.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services.
Membership dues for 2015 for the American Hospital Association (AHA)and the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) as both are billed and payable to the Illinois Hospital Association. The calendar year membership access and services are as follows: $ 65,242,00 for AHA and $ 107,843.86 for IHA. Therefore the emergency purchase request is for $ 173,085.86.
The previous membership dues were authorized via Exemption to the Procurement Code section 1-13 (b). Since the membership dues are past due and the Exemption authority is not available this emergency purchase is needed to prevent or minimize serious disruption to critical state services that affect health and delivery of healthcare services.
The membership provides a comprehensive and multidisciplinary source of comparative utilization for clinical, physician, financial, demographic, market share, quality, performance measurement, and severity-adjusted information. An important access service component of this membership is the Compdata Informatics feature. COMPdata provides several frequently utilized healthcare services such as: timely data and information; extensive report generation; data analysis tools; mapping and graphics networking with over 600 hospitals and health systems. In other words, the COMPdata Informatics contains a comprehensive database containing billing data from all hospitals within the state membership. This allows for data viewing of peer institutions that is critical for day-today operational management of the University Hospital System.
