The University awarded a contract for Siemens Artis Q Biplane monitor.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services.
The Hospital Radiology Unit utilizes the Siemens Artis Q Biplane purchased on 11/25/2015 for $ 2.3 million via the authority of Novation contract reference XR11022. Radiology utilizes this equipment for patient X-rays as it has a Gigalix X-ray tube for contrast resolution at any angle and any patient size with a X-ray pulse to help reduce radiation by up to 60%.
While a technician was in the process of moving the boom, the injector head was accidently hit and broke the large display monitor attached on the boom. Siemens service department has the monitor in stock and will ship within 24 hours. Emergency replacement is needed as the X-ray operational use requires the utilization of the replacement monitor. Patient care will suffer until the replacement monitor is installed.
