The University awarded a contract for Celigo Imaging Cytomer with 5 Channels .
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which items available on the spot market or at discounted prices were available for a limited time such that sound business judgment mandated a purchase immediately to take advantage of the availability and price.
This quick purchase request is based upon a negotiated discounted price for a limited time only. Nexcelom's offer with the discounted amount will expire at calendar year end 12/31/2016. Therefore, we request to purchase at the discounted price of $ 100,000 and save $ 15,000 from this quick purchase.
The College of Pharmacy Researcher will utilize Nexcelom's Celigo Imaging Cytomer with 5 Channels as it is essential to the campus wide drug discovery effort. At least 6 research groups and associated trainees were involved in the demo testing of this demo unit on December 12-13, 2016. Drug discovery requires reproducible and rapid assays of biological test systems. This instrument is essential for the cell based assays without which the university cannot develop new therapeutics. The instrument will be made available to all college and UI Centre associated faculty. No instrument has the same variety of measurement nodes in a single instrument.
Sound business judgment has concluded that an immediate purchase to take advantage of the availability and price is needed. The first come offer is $ 100,000 and the original manufacturer list price will be $ 115,000 on 1/1/2017.
