The University awarded a contract for an unbiased stereoscope system.
Unbiased stereoscope system. This system is critical for analyzing cells and data to complete the research on an NIH grant.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This purchase is partially (60%) funded by the faculty member's NIH award 3R01AG062251, and is instrumental for the successful completion of the aims of this project. The remaining funding will be institutional funds. Successful completion assists in procuring future federal awards, which highlights the University's strong research programs that help recruit high caliber graduate students and faculty, ensures high-tier publications, as well as support graduate students working on related graduate degrees.
