The University awarded a contract for Seahorse Analyzer.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which items available on the spot market or at discounted prices were available for a limited time such that sound business judgment mandated a purchase immediately to take advantage of the availability and price.
The university will be purchasing the Agilent Seahorse XF technology for faster, better, and more accurate measurements of cellular metabolism. The quick purchase for this equipment is because the vendor is offering a substantial trade in discount. We will be able to trade in our 8 year old equipment to get the 40% discount from the original price of $205,000. This is a savings of $81,860. This offer will expire on October 25, 2017. The Seahorse Analyzer is currently the only equipment available to researchers world-wide which allows for rapid metabolic flux measurements in a cost-efficient and high-throughput manner. It has wide utility for cell biologists, molecular biologists, cancer researchers, immunologists, neurobiologists and cardiovascular researchers who want to study cellular metabolism.
