The University awarded a contract for High Security Anesthesia Carts.
Armstrong Medical High Security Anesthesia Carts with Wireless Management will be located in each or surgical suite at the head of the patient bed to support the anesthesiologist and nurses/physician for direct care of the patient by providing narcotics and supplies that are administered during each and every case.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The Wireless Auto-locking Carts technology will provide security for controlled substances that is currently not in place. This will give UIH an audit trail report for its end users/administrators and will decrease potential liability around misuse, theft, and misplacement of controlled substances. Each Anesthesiologist will have a unique passcode for additional security.
