The University awarded a contract for ep Motion 5075t Automated Liquid Handling System.
Liquid handling is a core process in every life science laboratory. The aforementioned machine has a large repertoire of qualified NGS methods for high quality libraries and can help avoid human pipetting errors, provide reproducible results, and increase productivity. The research interests are metagenomics and meta-transcriptomic studies in medical and translational sciences. Hundreds of samples are processed every month currently and hundreds more will be required once we start our new RO1 study. This instrument will help efficiently generate robust and producible data.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This machine will improve the research outcomes, reduce the systematic errors, and provide solid, reproducible data.
