The University awarded a contract for an ultrasound machine.
Sonosite SII is an ultrasound machine designed and especially well suited to Anesthesiology, Vascular Access, and Trauma uses. The SII provides clear visualization of the needle and nerve block placement, allowing precise placement of local anesthetic with minimal patient discomfort.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The medical equipment is State of the Art and will allow the hospital?s Department of Anesthesiology/Surgical Services to provide the highest quality of treatment to our patients. For Anesthesiologists, managing patient volume status is crucial to positive outcomes.
