The University awarded a contract for coagulation testing.
Equipment, supplies, and service to perform coagulation testing for UI Health patients. This testing is an important component for diagnosis and treatment of blood clotting issues.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The Laboratory currently uses the Diagnostica Stago StaR hemostasis analyzer because of its total automation features and high throughput. It allows the laboratory to deliver quick and thorough results that UI Health care providers have come to rely on for patient care. Without this procurement the laboratory would need to send testing out at an increased cost both in financial terms and in turn around time for results.
