The University awarded a contract for a webscale discovery tool.
This purchase is for a discovery and e-resource management suite of products and a webscale discovery tool that allows for the search of Library resources through a single search box.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for periodicals, books, subscriptions, database licenses, and other publications procured for use by a university library or academic department, except for expenditures related to procuring textbooks for student use or materials for resale or rental. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(5)) The Proquest webscale discovery tool is a resource sharing network which allows users to quickly obtain global library content in a single search box.
