The University awarded a contract for Osmosis student assessment tool.
Osmosis is an on-line and mobile tool that provides medical students with self-paced and self-directed quizzing with a longitudinal view of the four-year curriculum, meaning its possible for students to see where specific terms or concepts have been taught and revisited in the curriculum since the first day of their matriculation.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for periodicals, books, subscriptions, database licenses, and other publications procured for use by a university library or academic department, except for expenditures related to procuring textbooks for student use or materials for resale or rental. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(5)) Osmosis is an online and mobile tool that provides medical students with self-paced and self-directed quizzing with a longitudinal view of the four-year curriculum, meaning its possible for students to see where specific terms or concepts have been taught and revisited in the curriculum since the first day of their matriculation. Through the self-directed quizzing, students are immediately guided, if necessary, to further study on a topic, thus providing them with real-time feedback on their progress and preparation for all quizzes and exams. Students in the Classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023 have been using this since their first day of medical school.
