The University awarded a contract for reagents for assay validation.
Reagents for next generation sequencing for clinical assay validation. This clinical assay detects genetic mutation in tumor DNA of cancer patients which is a service we offer in the department of Pathology for cancer patients at UIC.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) We are performing clinical assay validation for a machine that was purchased from ThermoFisher Scientific. This machine is exclusively manufactured by ThermoFisher and the reagents are also manufactured by ThermoFisher. This clinical assay detects genetic mutation in tumor DNA of cancer patients which is a service we offer in the department of Pathology for cancer patients at UIC.
