The University awarded a contract for medical biller's.
This service will provide a cardiology biller (1.0 FTE) for Cardiologist encounters and a Billing Manager (0.05), for the change from OSF to UICOMP This service will also include an OSF Auth Specialist (0.5 FTE) to perform pre-authorization and registration.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This service provides a cardiology biller (1.0 FTE) for Cardiologist encounters and a Billing Manager (0.05), for the change from OSF to UICOMP. This service will also include an OSF Authorization Specialist (0.5 FTE) to perform pre-authorization and registration. We would not be able to hire people of this caliber at the University wage rate. Also, OSF Healthcare is our partner and provides other staff to our clinics as needed. The clinics are located on OSF property.
