Whole slide imaging scanner (Leica GT450)
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The instrument will enable more cost effective and higher quality patient care, by enabling digitization of glass slides. These digitized glass slides can be more easily stored, accessed, shared, and analyzed. These capabilities not only will allow for evolving standard of care for our patients, but also enable innovation, improved trainee education, and impactful research.
